Her Honour the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario<\/h2>\n

The Honourable Edith Dumont is the 30th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and the first Francophone to hold the office. She was appointed following a distinguished career in education, during which she lived and worked in provinces and territories across the country, as well as in Africa and Europe.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Madame Dumont was the first woman to serve as director of education of the largest French-language public school board in Ontario, and she helped create the province\u2019s first standalone francophone university,\u00a0l\u2019Universit\u00e9\u00a0de\u00a0l\u2019Ontario\u00a0fran\u00e7ais in Toronto.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She has always been a passionate advocate for youth, women\u2019s leadership, la Francophonie, and the development of resilient and caring communities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Madame Dumont holds\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>Master of Education and a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Bachelor of\u00a0<\/span>Orthopedagogy<\/span>\u00a0from the\u00a0<\/span>Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec\u00a0<\/span>en<\/span>\u00a0Outaouais.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>has been<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>appointed\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Officier<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0de la L\u00e9gion\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>d\u2019honneur<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Chevalier de\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>l\u2019Ordre<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0des Palmes\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>acad\u00e9miques<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0by the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>government of France<\/span><\/span><\/span>, and<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span><\/span>he is<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0the chancellor and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>a member of the Order of Ontario and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>a\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Dame of Justice in the Order of St. John.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Among the many awards she has received are<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0the King Charles III Coronation Medal, the M\u00e9daille de\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>l\u2019Ordre<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0de la Pl\u00e9iade de\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>l\u2019Ontario<\/span><\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>the M\u00e9daille de\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>l\u2019Ordre<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0de la\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>ville<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>d\u2019Ottawa<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
